Lee Chee Kin Taekwondo club is a member club in the British Taekwondo association. Students from the age of 5 to 60 enjoy training at the club they travel from Doncaster Sheffield and Barnsley. The club offers first class training in the traditional art of Taekwondo. The club also runs specialized courses from Masters in the B.T.A. I.e. Kick boxing - Akido - Self Defense - Instructors and Referee courses these are all certified. Grading is held 4 times a year for Kup and 2 times for Black Belt. All grading are conducted by Grand Master Tony. British Taekwondo association have other members Scorpion Academy in Suffolk run by the vice president of the B.T.A. Also the Twin Tigers from Lincolnshire, Fox T.K.D from Barnsley Soul T.K.D from Sheffield, T.K.D from Pontifract, The White Tigers from Hampshire all run by 1ST class Masters that have trained for years to get where they are today. Students who trained outside of the B.T.A still apply to grade under the Grand Master. Taekwondo is a modern Korean martial art, characterized by fast, high, jumping, spinning kicks. It is an all round program that offers self-defence training, physical exercise, and artistic expression; all taught by an experienced professional instructor. The earliest records of MartialArts practice in Korea date back to about 50 B.C. These earliest forms of Korean martial arts are known as Taek Kyon. Evidence that Martial Arts were being practicedat that time can be found in tombs where wall paintings show two men in fighting-stance. Meaning of the Term Taekwondo The word karate empty hand is a Japanese word that has developed into a generic term for all types of Asian fighting arts .There are three main divisions of the generic martial art of karate: actualkarate is an Okinawa-Japanese style of fighting, with abrupt movements along straight lines; Kung-fu tasks and Chuan-fa: system of boxing are Chinese styles that use flowing, circular movements; and Taekwondo that incorporates the abrupt, linear movements of karate and the circular patterns of Kung-fu with its own unique kicking techniques. Literally translated, Taekwondo breaks down to tae meaning to kick with the foot, kwon meaning to punch or strike with the hand, and do meaning art or way, Therefore, Taekwondo translates to the art of kicking and punching. Its physical aspects come from the kicking and punching, while its spiritual aspects come from the art
